The Smithers Skill Swap, a community-powered initiative that brings neighbors together to share knowledge, creativity, and skills, is proud to present a special creative writing event: “Writing With a Beat” featuring published author Yvonne Kindle. This free workshop will be held Wednesday, July 24, from 10am to 12pm at the GATEWAY Center Gym, Smithers City Hall, 2 Greyhound Lane.
Attendees will enjoy a morning of inspiration and storytelling as Kindle guides participants through the use of “beat sheets”—a popular and accessible tool for writers of all levels. In addition to the hands-on writing experience, Kindle will also read from her published work and offer signed copies for purchase.
This event is part of the larger Smithers Skill Swap movement, a grassroots collaboration between the City of Smithers, the West Virginia Community Development Hub, and AmeriCorps VISTA. Skill Swaps are open to all ages and backgrounds, offering space for community members to teach and learn from one another in a fun, welcoming environment.
