Disney’s Newsies: The Broadway Musical is a stage adaptation of the 1992 Disney film, inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City. The musical, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein, premiered on Broadway in 2012 and enjoyed a successful run of over 1,000 performances. It tells the story of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy, who rallies his fellow newsies to strike against unfair conditions imposed by publishing giants like Joseph Pulitzer.
