Statewide preservation plans are comprehensive documents provide a shared vision for the state’s preservation efforts. As a shared document these plans are developed by WV SHPO in collaboration with our state and local partners. Their insights are vital to understanding our state’s historic and cultural resources, identifying the challenges our communities’ face, and developing goals and objectives for us all to overcome those challenges. The plan also celebrates our shared successes in the historic preservation field. Our office undertakes the effort to revise the comprehensive statewide historic preservation plan every five years to guarantee that it remains relevant for West Virginians.
