Welcome to West Virginia’s State Museums!

The museum section of the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History oversees and operates four historic sites and museums. Our museums seek to collect, preserve, present, promote and document West Virginia’s rich culture, art, paleontology, archaeology and geology – The West Virginia State Museum, Camp Washington-Carver, Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex, and West Virginia Independence Hall.

Our museums are open year-round to visitors. Each offers varying programming that is available to groups (public, private, and homeschools, scouts, tours, etc.) with advance reservation and group leaders can contact the museum for a list of hands-on programs.
