CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Six trophies were awarded to the top three boys and girls at the West Virginia Division of Culture and History’s seventh annual A. James Manchin Marble Tournament on Saturday, April 4, at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston. The free tournament is sponsored by the West Virginia Marble Shooters Association and is open to children from 7 to 14 years of age and all skill levels. The winners in the girls category include Ava Gunter, first place; Rosalia Somazze, second place; and Annabeth Keller, third place. The boys category includes Philip Morgan, first place; Gavin Perna, second place; and Ezra Somazze, third place. The winners received a trophy and are invited to compete in the marble tournament at the Glass Festival in Weston. A photo of the winners and a young player are attached. Interested participants practiced from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and the tournament began at 1:30 p.m. The tournament’s marble game, Ringer, is played by placing 13 marbles in the form of an “X” in a 10-foot circle with players alternating shots.
