Woodland Wonders: A Community Lantern Parade

January 25 @ 6:00 pm 7:30 pm

The Town of Bolivar is hosting its 2nd Annual Community Lantern Parade, which coincides with Jefferson County’s ‘Frosty Fest.’ This year’s theme is “Woodland Wonders.Come and be dazzled by sculptural paper lanterns that were created in a community arts project led by artist  and instructor Valeska Populoh and assistant Peter Redgrave. We welcome participation! We invite you to wear twinkle lights, to carry your own paper lantern illuminated with LED lights, to play an instrument or carry wind chimes. Participants will meet at the Harpers Ferry Middle School staff parking lot at 5:30 pm.

The Parade route will begin at the Harpers Ferry Middle School and progress down Washington Street to Harpers Ferry Town Hall, looping back to the Bolivar Community Center for cider and cookies.

This project was in partnership with the Bolivar-Harpers Ferry Public Library and sponsored by Jefferson County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Jefferson Arts Council. For more information, please visit the Bolivar website, www.bolivarwv.org/lantern, or call Lisa Kovatch (304) 620-3011. (Photo credit: Valeska Populoh)
