Charleston, W.Va- The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) of the West Virginia Department of Tourism has digitally published the 2025-2031 statewide historic preservation plan. This long-range strategic plan is intended to guide the actions and decisions of all the state’s historic preservation organizations.
Reaching Across Mountains: Building Partnerships in Historic Preservation, West Virginia’s Historic Preservation Plan 2025-2031, is the result of collaborative efforts. Each part of the plan is based on conversations with members of the public, local stakeholders, and professional preservationists. Reaching Across Mountains reviews survey highlights, provides an overview of the state’s historic and cultural heritage, identifies challenges facing preservation, illustrates goals and objectives for the next five years, and includes a reflection on recent preservation accomplishments.
