CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Great Wall of China is back at the Culture Center! For the 80th anniversary of Homer Laughlin China, Inc.’s Fiestaware china line, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History is opening a special exhibition at the Culture Center on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The china wall in the Theater Gallery features 321 plates and a special Fiesta logo mosaic featuring the 2016 color, claret.

The exhibition opens with a reception at 6 p.m. Liz McIlvain, president of Homer Laughlin China, Inc., and other company staff will attend the opening.

“The exhibition features every color produced for the Fiesta line since it was introduced in 1936,” said Charles Morris, director of Museums for the division. “It includes examples of some of the limited run colors and showcases the diversity of the Fiesta dinnerware collection. Morris said the exhibition includes disc pitchers, bowls, teapots, carafes and other functional dinnerware pieces.

To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, the division will offer a special limited edition 80th anniversary dinnerware plate at the opening. The 10-½” ivory plate features the original Fiesta logo.  The plate will be sold for $15 beginning at the exhibition opening.
