CHARLESTON, W.Va. – On Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin will present more than $1 million in grants to help 45 arts organizations across the state expand their programs.
“These grants help support our community-based art programs, providing opportunities for all West Virginians to experience both visual and performing arts,” Tomblin said. “Showcasing our state’s beauty, the arts provide our people with an outlet for creative expression.”
Wednesday’s presentation begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Governor’s Reception Room at the state Capitol.
The Arts Partners and Community Support Project grants, which provide cornerstone financial support for stable community arts organizations in West Virginia, are funded by The National Endowment for the Arts and the West Virginia State Legislature, and administered by the West Virginia Division of Culture and History.
The West Virginia Commission on the Arts is responsible for reviewing and selecting the grant awardees.
