DESCRIPTION:On June 6\, 1944\, the Allies invaded the Normandy beaches to liberate Europe from the Nazis. More than 5\,000 ships with thousands of tanks and landing craft and nearly 200\,000 men crossed the English Channel. Hundreds of ships fell victim to German shellfire\, mines\, and torpedoes and are being documented by dive teams\, submersibles\, and underwater robots.
