For more info\, contact Peter Smith at 304-876-1139 or pvsmith@frontiernet.net)\n\n \n\nTICKETS ON SALE NOW FOR NOV. 2 & 3 FRIENDS OF MUSIC CONCERT IN SHEPHERDSTOWN\n\n \n\nThe Friends of Music will present two performances of a Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra concert in Shepherdstown during the November 2 and 3 weekend.\n\nThe first performance will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday the 2nd; the second will be a 3:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday\, the 3rd. \n\nBoth performances will be held in the historic Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church at 100 West Washington Street.\n\nEntitled “Radiance and Fire\,” the concert will feature three works: Hymn and Fuguing Tune No. 10 by American Composer Henry Cowell (1897–1965); the Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major of Joseph Haydn (1732–1809); and the Symphony No. 40 in G minor of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791).\n\nAdmission to the concert will be free for Friends of Music members. The ticket price for others will be $40 per person. Tickets can be purchased on the Friends’ website at www.friendswv.org; or by mail (FOM\, PO Box 220\, Shepherdstown\, WV 25443); or\, if space is available\, at the church at both performances. Visa and Master Card will be accepted. For more information\, contact the Friends’ office at info@friendswv.org or 304-876-5765.\n\nThe featured soloist will be cellist Amit Peled\, who is acclaimed as one of the most exciting and virtuosic instrumentalists on the concert stage today. Peled has performed in many of the world’s most prestigious venues\, including Carnegie Hall in New York; the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C.; Salle Gaveau in Paris; Wigmore Hall in London; and the Konzerthauz in Berlin\, Germany\, to name a few. \n\nPeled is a cello professor at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore\, Maryland\, and has performed in and presented master classes around the world. Embracing the new online era\, he has also established an Amit Peled Online Cello Academy\, which reaches out to hundreds of cellists all over the world.\n\nThe orchestra’s music director\, Jed Gaylin\, will conduct. He will give talks at the Church about the concert before each performance\, sharing his insights into the works being performed. The Saturday evening talk will begin at 6:30 p.m.; the Sunday afternoon talk will begin at 2:00 p.m. Each talk will last about a half hour. Anyone can attend.\n\nThe concert is part of the Year of Civility\, a collaboration between Shepherd University and the Stubblefield Institute. SUMMARY:Second Stage Series - Seth Maynard
DESCRIPTION:eth Maynard’s years of training at Berklee College of Music are evident in his skillful and colorful guitar and vocal stylings in various genres of music. He logs as many as 100 performances each year at regional venues and serves as Adjunct Music Faculty at West Virginia Wesleyan College and Davis & Elkins College. He performs nationally and regionally as a solo act\, with duo partners\, and many other ensembles. You can catch him performing regularly on the WBOY 12News program 304 Today with host Lauren Winans (Music Mondays). Seth and Lauren will release an EP of original pop/rock songs this spring\, written by the duo and recorded with WVU music students at Mon Hills Studio\, Morgantown\, WV. \n\n\n\n     Seth is the guitarist for Queen City Funk & Soul\, an 11 piece dance band based out of Cumberland\, MD\, and recently joined the Robinson Grand Theater (Clarksburg\, WV) house band\, The ’39 Fire\, as guitarist and vocalist.  You can also hear him performing this summer with The Elk River Ramblers trio and as bassist/singer for the praise team at First United Methodist Church in Elkins\, WV\, almost every Sunday morning. He has worked with Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild Jazz\, known as MCG Jazz\, based in Pittsburgh\, PA\, to bring jazz education and performance to public school systems in West Virginia and Pennsylvania for the last 7 years. And Seth joined forces last summer with the Augusta Heritage Center in Elkins\, WV to teach guitar to youth and adults. \n\n\n\n     Maintaining contact with local artists and students is important; Seth has been teaching guitar\, bass\, voice\, and general music lessons privately for more than 35 years\, keeping a roster of 8-10 private students ranging from 8 to 74 years old.  Supporting local arts and community organizations is also a key factor\, and Seth has often performed for local/regional fundraisers\, such as The Humane Society\, Relay For Life\, Davis Health Foundation\, the Elkins Randolph County Arts Center\, Rotary Polio Elimination Concerts\, the YMCA\, as well as public/private schools\, churches\, and senior centers. \n\n\n\n     Seth has four album releases: “Osmosis”(2010) features his guitar playing and songwriting in a modern jazz/fusion instrumental context. “Make The Season Bright”(2012) and “Christmas Time Is Here”(2016)\, collaborations with other area musicians filled with unique versions of many holiday favorites. And “Duo Primo”(2016)\, a collection of jazz standards in duet with sax/flute/clarinet player Randall Hall. Seth celebrates more than 40 years as an active musician\, performer\, teacher\, and music producer.  He also owns and operates his own recording studio (formerly Lone Wolf Productions) where his recording/producing/performing credits are numerous.
