DESCRIPTION:Team Kid-Prov Improv! will be performing a hilarious holiday-themed  improv show this December 17th in association with MT Pockets Theatre. \nAs part of Fairmont State University Academy of the Arts\, Team Kid Prov-Improv is under the direction of Christian Cox.  They are a team of players ranging from 7th-12th grades.   The team is comprised of students who have had at least two improv classes.  They perform a variety of short and long-form improv.   Their shows are child-friendly versions similar to the popular ‘Whose Line is it Anyway’.  Current team members include Lillian Cunningham\, Emmery Dugan\, Joanna Dugan\, Savannah Farcin\, Aidan Gross\, Ian Phillips\, and Salem Pollastrini.   The team has had a busy year performing for Barrackville Bridge Day\, Fairmont’s Tomato Festival\, a Halloween show for Short Story Brewing\, and various other events.   Their quick wit and humor are sure to entertain and make you laugh!

DESCRIPTION:Do you have a mystery fossil? Bring it for expert identification by Dr. Elizabeth Rhenberg from the WV Geological and Economic Survey! Don’t have a fossil? A fossil display by members of the West Virginia Fossil Club will showcase some of their specimens and answer questions about collecting fossils\, and Taylor McCoy from Pittsburgh will display a collection of replica “Teeth and Claws”. Family friendly activities relating to fossils include making a fossil cast\, viewing a tiny fossil insect through a microscope\, and a museum hunt with fossil clues. New this year: we will be joined by folks from the SMART-Center in Wheeling with a display of “Life in the West Virginia Coal Swamp” and a fossil identification challenge.  \n\n\n\nLecture by E. SUMMARY:Marshall County Schools Celebration of the Arts
DESCRIPTION:The event is a celebration of music and visual arts and includes activities for the kids. Musical performances will be provided by Marshall County students and volunteers will staff family-friendly arts and crafts tables. The event also includes the opening reception and ribbon cutting from 2to 4 p.m. for the “Annual Marshall County Student Art Show.” This exhibit of art created by Marshall County middle and high school students showcases a variety of artwork\, including drawings\, paintings\, photographs and sculptures. It is organized and set up by the Cameron High School Art Club under the guidance of art teacher Amanda Jenree and will be judged for awards in several categories.  Visitors who view the exhibit during the opening reception can vote for “People’s Choice” awards. SUMMARY:ArtsLink Coffeehouse featuring the Bank Notes with Bill Stokes Magic
DESCRIPTION:ArtsLink’s 2024 Coffeehouse Series will continue Tuesday\, August 20\, with The Bank Notes. The free 6:30pm concert\, sponsored by First Mutual Bank\, will be held on the performance deck at the Francis Creative Arts Center at the corner of Maple Avenue and Washington Street in downtown New Martinsville. Photography by local artist Jane Knight will be on display in the gallery. The Bank Notes are a local Barbershop chorus whose repertoire includes classic Barbershop tunes\, and some modern songs performed in the Barbershop style. Their name is derived from their rehearsal location\, Doolin Center\, which used to be a bank. In between sets\, we have Bill Stokes\, a local entertainer who will share some musical trickery of his own.  Light refreshments will be served and don’t forget a lawn chair. In the event of an uncooperative weatherman\, the concert will be moved indoors.

He sings and plays steel guitar\, electric guitar\, and acoustic guitar in the band. Light refreshments will be served and don’t forget a lawn chair.

DESCRIPTION:Author and illustrator Rosalie Haizlett kicks off her new book tour with this traveling exhibit featuring watercolor paintings from her manuscript. The illustrations feature a combination of vibrant landscapes\, hand-drawn maps\, and close-up views of the tiny plants\, animals\, and fungi that Haizlett observed during a six-month trip through the entire Appalachian Mountain range (from Alabama to Newfoundland) in 2022.
