SUMMARY:Vicki Lawrence & Mama: A Two Woman Show
DESCRIPTION:Emmy Award winning comedienne Vicki Lawrence is one of the most beloved television personalities of her generation.  Plucked out of total obscurity as a high school senior\, Vicki went on to become part of the now-legendary cast of the “Carol Burnett Show.”  “I went to the Harvard School of Comedy in front of America\,” says Lawrence of her Burnett Show training. \n\n\n\nIn the seventh season\, and hundreds of hilarious sketches later\, at the ripe\, old age of 24\, Vicki created her most endearing character to date\, Thelma Harper\, or “Mama” as she is better known to her fans.  After the Burnett Show\, Vicki went on to star in “Mama’s Family\,” which consistently topped the ratings for its entire six-year run of original shows.  “Mama” has attained almost a cult status among her legions of loyal television viewers\, who still enjoy her in reruns twice daily throughout most of the country and the world. \n\n\n\nNo stranger to television\, Vicki perfected her hosting skills on her own daytime talk show\, “Vicki!\,” from 1992 to 1994. She received critical acclaim when she was the only talk show host since Oprah to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy in her freshman year. Through the years Lawrence has made appearances on other television programs\, such as Laverne & Shirley\, Major Dad\, Roseanne\, Hannah Montana (Hannah’s Grandma Stewart)\, and Yes\, Dear. Lawrence has also appeared with Burnett\, Korman\, and Tim Conway in the Burnett show retrospectives. Lawrence most recently co-starred in the popular FOX-TV 2018 comedy series The Cool Kids. \n\n\n\nThe unprecedented ratings for the “Carol Burnett Showstopper Special\,” which delighted more than 50 million viewers\, convinced Ms. Lawrence that the time is right to take Mama out of the closet\, dust off her sensible shoes and hit the road with her new touring production\, Vicki Lawrence and Mama: A Two-Woman Show. \n\n\n\nVicki will take the stage first. “My show is not a retrospective\,” she explains. “The show is a mixture of stand-up comedy\, music and my observations about real life.” The multi-talented entertainer is mostly known for her acting and comedic talents\, but she also earned a gold record for the 1973 hit\, “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.” \n\n\n\n “I think people will get a kick out of the things Mama has an opinion about. We’re creating new material with a more modern and cutting edge. Where Mama is concerned\, expect the unexpected. There’s really nothing she can’t do\,” she says. “I hope people will be pleasantly surprised by a side of Vicki they may never have seen…I know they will be looking forward to Mama\, and for her part\, that crazy old gal will be up to the challenge.” \n\n\n\nThis is not Vicki’s first foray into theater. She has appeared in numerous productions\, including Carousel\, Send Me No Flowers\, No\, No\, Nanette\, My Fat Friend\, Chapter Two\, Twigs\, Hello Dolly\, Special Occasions\, I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It ON The Road\, Annie Get Your Gun and live from the Grand Ole Opry\, Nunsense 3: The Jamboree which aired

SUMMARY:Aaron Lewis & The Stateliners: American As It Gets Tour
DESCRIPTION:Aaron Lewis\, the Vermont-born powerhouse first found success with Staind–the 2000s-era hard rockers who injected meditative muscle into an era better known for mindless aggression. But while that band is still very much alive\, it was never enough to satisfy Lewis’ creative drive. Embracing his roots to earn a rare second round of success\, a series of solo Country projects have led to two No. 1 Billboard Country Album debuts – TOWN LINE (2011) and SINNER (2016) -plus a PLATINUM collab with heroes George Jones and Charlie Daniels (“Country Boy”)\, and a GOLD – certified Billboard No. 1 with “Am I The Only One” in 2021. Lewis’ 2022 solo album followed suit\, with FRAYED AT BOTH ENDS emerging as the best-selling Country album in America but he never wrote songs for the stats. No matter the sonic setting\, Lewis writes and sings to get his truth out and his latest album THE HILL (2024) is no different.

SUMMARY:Cabin Fever Concert @ Historic Graham House
DESCRIPTION:CABIN FEVER is back! – Saturday\, Feb. 22 @ Graham House\n\nThe second annual Cabin Fever concert at the historic Graham House in Lowell\, WV is right around the corner and promises to be a great show! On Saturday\, February 22nd\, from 3 PM to 5 PM\, three very talented musicians – Tish Westman\, Hunter Walker\, and Lewis Prichard – will join Appalachian duo Little Maggie to present a mix of traditional and original songs and tunes featuring a passel of instruments from clawhammer banjo to upright bass\, fiddle to bowed psaltery\, lap dulcimer to ukelele\, mandolin to autoharp and more\, in combinations perhaps never before heard.\n\nFor Tish Westman music is a way of life. As a youngster\, she often found herself in trouble for whistling and humming at school. She now teaches\, performs\, sings\, and composes on a variety of instruments\, most notably lap dulcimer and bowed psaltery. Since 2001\, she and her husband Greg have been the resident woodworkers at Tamarack where they build and sell instruments along with recordings and books of music instruction in their Noted Note style. In addition\, they produce an annual Bowed Psaltery Symphony performance featuring as many as 60 musicians from across the United States. Among all these pursuits\, Westman says her greatest passion is teaching others to play and watching them experience the joy of music. In 2011\, she performed on Mountain Stage with her group Psaltrio\, which included a budding young musician named Hunter Walker.\n\nWalker began learning dulcimer from Westman when he was 13 years old. A quick learner\, he started competing and went on to win numerous competitions including the West Virginia State Championship. But he didn’t stop there! His prodigious skill on clawhammer banjo landed him more first-place wins including another state title. To hear him play is to appreciate why. He’s an in-demand musician with extensive performance experience\, a composer\, a teacher known for his kind\, approachable style\, a founding member of Long Point String Band\, and a West Virginia native proud of his roots.\n\nLewis Prichard\, also from West Virginia\, grew up in a musical family and began playing guitar at an early age. He took up mandolin as a teen and fiddle in his twenties. Skilled in a variety of genres from Old-Time to Celtic\, his instrumental versatility and easy demeanor make him a welcome addition to many ensembles. Past adventures include taking his music as far away as Norway and playing in Virginia’s Mando Mafia. He is currently a member of Beckley\, West Virginia’s Long Point String Band and Greenhouse of Lexington\, Virginia.\n\nRounding out this unique collaboration will be Mary Dailey and Cheryl Mansley of Little Maggie with songs old and new – heartfelt\, humorous\, and haunting – as well as instrumental accompaniment on some ordinary and not-so-ordinary instruments. As hosts of a monthly Old-Time Mountain Music Jam\, Dailey and Mansley love fostering community participation in the living tradition of Appalachian music. This year’s Cabin Fever concert is dedicated to that tradition and will celebrate the tunes and songs\, musicians and instruments\, and listeners – all part of what makes it so grand.\n\nThe Graham House is located at 131 Graham House Road in Lowell\, West Virginia\, off Rt. 12 (also Rt. 3)\, between Talcott & Pence Springs. Admission is $20/person at the door. Cash only\, please. Doors open at 2:15 PM\, and seating is first come\, first served.\nIn case of inclement weather\, the concert will take place the next day\, Sunday\, February 23rd. For more information contact Cheryl Mansley at 304-702-0554 or cherylmansley@gmail.com\, or visit ArtBeat of the Mountains on Facebook.\n\nWe would like to thank Graham House\, the New River Gateway CVB\, and the Hinton Area Foundation for their support in making this event possible. We look forward to seeing you at this one-of-a-kind show that’s sure to cure even the most serious case of cabin fever!

SUMMARY:Almost\, MAINE
DESCRIPTION:A woman carries her heart\, broken into nineteen pieces\, in a small paper bag. A man shrinks to half his former size\, after losing hope in love. A couple keep the love they have given each other in large red bags\, or compress the mass into the size of a diamond. These playful and surreal experiences are commonplace in the world of John Cariani’s Almost\, Maine\, where on one deeply cold and magical Midwinter Night\, the citizens of Almost — not organized enough for a town\, too populated for a wilderness — experience the life-altering power of the human heart. Relationships end\, begin\, or change beyond recognition\, as strangers become friends\, friends become lovers\, and lovers turn into strangers. Propelled by the mystical energy of the aurora borealis and populated with characters who are humorous\, plain-spoken\, thoughtful\, and sincere\, Almost\, Maine is a series of loosely connected tales about love\, each with a compelling couple at its center\, each with its own touch of sorcery.
