SUMMARY:Brass Quintet to Perform Holiday Concert at West Virginia Independence Hall
DESCRIPTION:Shadyside Brass is one of the most exciting brass ensembles in Pittsburgh. Made up of five friends who share a love of brass playing\, the quintet puts a new face on music for everyone. They feature many of their own arrangements\, with each of the members of the group contributing to the repertoire. The quintet realized early on that creating their own arrangements was a great way to bring something new to their audiences. The members include Joe Figliulo and David DeAngelo on trumpets\, Doug Peters on horn\, Justin Miller on tenor trombone and Matt Tesch on bass trombone. SUMMARY:Taylor County Arts Council Gallery Gala and Art Auction
DESCRIPTION:The Taylor County Arts Council will hold a Gallery Gala and Art Auction on Saturday December 9th from 6-9 pm at Gallery 62 West on Main Street in Grafton. Eighty-nine paintings by multi award-winning Fairmont artist Liuqing Ruth Yang will be up for auction with all proceeds benefiting the renovation of the Gallery building. \nYang generously donated a large portion of her collected work to the TCAC to help the organization continue making a difference in the community. She shared that God spoke to her and pressed it on her heart to make the donation. Yang often speaks of her faith and how blessed she has been\, both with her talent and the recognition she has received. \nThis incredible artist was born and raised in China\, but is now a proud citizen of the United States. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from West Virginia University in 2021 and lives in Fairmont with her husband and son. In just 2023\, she has won First Place and People’s Choice in the TCAC’s 25th Annual Memorial Day Exhibit\, the D. Gene Jordan Memorial Award in the 23rd Biennial Juried Exhibition at the West Virginia State Museum\, and Third Place at the 15th Annual Best of West Virginia Juried Exhibition at Tamarack. Yang has also received several Honorable Mentions\, participated in exhibitions at Marshall University\, and will be featured in the upcoming issue of ‘You’re Not Seeing Things’ magazine. \nOnline bidding has begun and can be found on the website Better World at https://taylorcountyartscouncil.betterworld.org/. DESCRIPTION:Team Kid-Prov Improv! will be performing a hilarious holiday-themed  improv show this December 17th in association with MT Pockets Theatre. \nAs part of Fairmont State University Academy of the Arts\, Team Kid Prov-Improv is under the direction of Christian Cox.  They are a team of players ranging from 7th-12th grades.   The team is comprised of students who have had at least two improv classes.  They perform a variety of short and long-form improv.   Their shows are child-friendly versions similar to the popular ‘Whose Line is it Anyway’.  Current team members include Lillian Cunningham\, Emmery Dugan\, Joanna Dugan\, Savannah Farcin\, Aidan Gross\, Ian Phillips\, and Salem Pollastrini.   The team has had a busy year performing for Barrackville Bridge Day\, Fairmont’s Tomato Festival\, a Halloween show for Short Story Brewing\, and various other events.   Their quick wit and humor are sure to entertain and make you laugh!

SUMMARY:Marshall County Schools Celebration of the Arts
DESCRIPTION:The event is a celebration of music and visual arts and includes activities for the kids. Musical performances will be provided by Marshall County students and volunteers will staff family-friendly arts and crafts tables. The event also includes the opening reception and ribbon cutting from 2to 4 p.m. for the “Annual Marshall County Student Art Show.” This exhibit of art created by Marshall County middle and high school students showcases a variety of artwork\, including drawings\, paintings\, photographs and sculptures. DESCRIPTION:Grave Creek is once again honored to receive a visit from the Dineh Tah’ Navajo Dance Troupe who will perform on Saturday\, June 22. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. with a lecture by Shawn Price\, tradition keeper and director of the troupe\, who will talk about the Navajo Code Talkers who served in World War II. The lecture will be followed by a performance of traditional Navajo dances at 1:30 p.m. Afterwards\, free food samples will be offered by the Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio (NAICCO) Native Cuisine Food Truck. DESCRIPTION:South Charleston Summerfest around the Mound is 4 evenings of “FREE” entertainment! Food vendors\, 2 bands each evening\, dance contests for all ages\, a Kids Zone with inflatables and “FREE” sno cones. NEW! On Friday there is a Drone Show over the Mound at 10 pm. Saturday opens early with a Car Show from 8am – 2pm and after the evening entertainment the event closes with Fireworks display at 10pm.
